Crime Reaper
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Welcome to your newest gig — solving murders in the Afterlife for Mx. Death, the grimmest of reapers!
The Afterlife is filled with nefarious deities who tirelessly make humans kill each other in the world of the living. Your job is to catch them using the clues left behind to arrange the Weapons, Motivations, and Locations that were present at the time of death.
Crime Reaper takes the intrigue of murder mystery logic puzzles, like Cluedo and Inspector Parker, and combines it with the ingenuity and simplicity of Sudoku. There are over 16,000 possible murder scenarios that can occur and likely millions of different puzzle variations. To top it off, there are 14 different criminals to catch in Career mode with plenty of hijinks for you and Mx. Death to experience.

Fun game but it does get a bit easy after a bit, even on the hardest difficulty. As you learn more methods for narrowing down options, you can often have alot of ways to solve a stage, and any given level actually becomes easier as it goes on. Might be a weird (and unfair) criticism, but other puzzles like Sudoku or Picross can still have you hit a wall where you dont know where the next block goes and you have to push your brain to find a clue. Here, it feels like you sometimes get too much information, and putting down pieces will just give you more info on top of that, but since the levels are randomly generated already, I can understand getting the same feeling across would be extremely difficult. Whats the difference between a hard to find clue, and a level that just flat out doesnt give you the info you need? I cant think of an answer but I wanted to bring it up anyway
Despite that part, the game was good. Cool concept, it was fun until the levels got a bit too easy, and I appreciate the dialogue before each level with some fun explanations for the gods and their modus operandi.
For some reason I can’t put in the text of my review, but I wrote y’all a nice review. I’m so glad you made a Mac version! Thank you!
Just completed this game on Expert and loved the concept and game play.
Are there plans for a Linux version? I'd insta-buy with such a cool premise!
Are you ever planning on making a mac version? Just curious, bc this game looks so cool, but I have a mac
I've gotten enough requests that I will likely make a Mac version, but I'm unsure when it will be ready. Giving the game a follow will let you know when I eventually post it, though!
Mac version has been released -- if you already purchased a copy of Crime Reaper, you should immediately have access to the Mac version! :D
Sweet!
This is really neat; I'm glad I got it.
One thing that I would appreciate is maybe more squares to put unslotted pieces? I use pencil marks in sudoku and have been using specific placements inside the storage to indicate facts I know about the pieces.
It's always exciting to try to learn a new kind of puzzle!
This is a great logic puzzle in the Everett Kaser tradition. Just one recommendation. Could you add an option to disable the highlights to make it more challenging?
Disabling highlights seems to be a highly requested feature at this point, so the next update (hopefully end of June) will include it.
i cant play but i can help with music m me for the music ill do it for free it might be bad but ill do what i can oh and my name was potato for like 1-2 years in discord thats why i wanna help dm me patates#3868
Saw your comment that you're open to a Mac version if you get enough interest. Well, put me down as interested! Watched the video and it looks like a fun puzzle game.
Hello! I just finished making the Mac version of Crime Reaper, so if you purchase a copy, you'll immediately have access to it! Thank you for your interest and I hope you have a lot of fun!
Wow, you got back to me after a year. Very nice. Looking forward to trying the game!
Just bought it (with tip!), and it's just as slick as the Windows version looked. Great job on it, and thanks for making the Mac version!
Is there a way to force windowed mode? The game is launching fullscreen on my vertical monitor
You should be able to switch to windowed mode from the settings by flipping the full screen toggle. Is that not working properly?
Ahhh, I just couldn't see it for whatever reason yesterday. Thanks!
A better way of marking notes would be helpful
Very fun logic game! I would take this over regular sudoku any day!
i hate that it costes money >:(
I've gotta eat *shrug*
Enjoying the game. Good work!
As someone who's played a ton of sudoku, this game is amazing. I also love how the vibe is less spooky and more chill, even with the aesthetic.
The music selection is great!
The writing is fantastic!
The challenge is great!
The title is funny!
The grim reaper talking bone clicking sounds are EXCELLENT! (I recently played a game that had a a horrible talk sound loop thus my excitement)
The icons are well-readable and the colors/shapes are well-differentiable even with f.lux (night mode) on.
This looks so cool! Would love to see a Mac version
This looks fun! Is it ever going to come to Mac, iOS, or Android?
I've been considering doing a Mac version at some point (especially if a lot of folks want it!), but iOS and Android versions would require some big UI re-evaluation and interaction changes (so less likely). Thanks for your interest in any case!
That's understandable! I just wanted to know because I personally don't have windows. Good luck with your game!!
Really interested in a mac version. Have you test if this works with Wine on Mac ?
Great news: the mac version of Crime Reaper is finally ready! Hope you're still excited :D
YAY!
